Top the List of Most Trusted Professionals
A Harris
Poll conducted last fall asked a random
sampling of adults: "Would you generally
trust each of the following types of people
to tell the truth or not?"
At the top of the list: 86
percent of those surveyed felt they could
trust teachers to tell them the truth!
At the bottom of the list:
only 37 percent felt they could trust trade
union leaders to tell the truth.
No wonder the nation's largest
union, the National Education Association,
has begun an aggressive public relations
campaign to change their image from that
of a labor union back into a professional
association. To add fuel to the fire, their
own internal surveys have confirmed that
their members don't like being linked with
the labor union image.
